Pros and cons of Forgotten Memories app for iPhone and iPad

Forgotten Memories app good for

As a thrill seeker, and horror enthusiast, I have been searching for a game that is both scary but has a story line. I stumbled upon this game while searching in the Horror topic in the search bar. This game shows incredible skill levels necessary to achieve the highest ranking, it took me at least 5 times to play before I reached every star. I do hope you decide to purchase this game, since it is absolutely excellent!
This game is perfect in gameplay, control and graphic. but its scared me so much
This game is amazing the one problem I had with the game was dealt with in the first update! Survival horror at its core the best part is its only the start of the series !!!!!!!! This is the only game on iOS that I bookmarked a countdown page to the release of this game You will love this game no question about it And devs what an ending! Looking forward to the next in the series
One of the most amazing game of the iPhone with very nice graphics. The atmosphere is terrific. Thats a good point for a survival horror. It reminds me some very amazing games like some Silent Hill titles or the first Resident Evil.
juste WHOA moi qui suis fan de the evil Within, silent hill etc je suis servi
When you will finish the game? The game not even begins and it ends.

Some bad moments

Im not much of a gamer, and was looking forward to trying a fun horror survival game. Sadly, the game inexplicably features no auto save. I regret not looking this up before I purchased as I see plenty of folks complaining. Also, I found the controls to be awkward and frustrating. The graphics and sound design were super cool, however. A pity I wont be able to experience them as I cant dedicate extended periods of uninterrupted time to play a game.
Although I see the potential with this game controlling the character is clumsy at best..very frustrating to move the character its extremely hard at times and considering that the biggest part of a game like this is getting the main character from A to B is very important Im disappointed. I prolly will not continue playing this game . To bad it could of been a good game.
I die but the game goes on and later I am back at the main screen. Plus no save?!? So frustrating with those floppy disks...way too hard..
Lousy save options, cut scenes you cant bypass due to lousy save options and load times bordering on the obscene. What could be a really good spook fest quickly becomes an object lesson in frustration. Bummer!!
This game was in development for over 6 years, and after all that time it seems we ended up with a game that falls below expectations. The graphics are amazing but the slowdown and hitching on an iPhone 6+ is inexcusable. The controls are decent but the camera speed and character movement makes the character feel like they are running in mud. The animations for running and such are bad as well. Tank controls were a limitation of technology when Resident Evil and Silent Hill first released, it isnt necessary anymore. Artificial difficulty via purposely difficult controls is not fun. Especially with touch controls and there is no current controller support. The puzzles and exploration are very good. The combat is a mess as you cant control the camera very well and can easily get attacked from off screen. Only 2 types of enemies leaves a lot to be desired. In the end I feel a bit cheated after waiting so long. They changed the game into an "episodic" format so this first episode isnt very long. It also isnt communicated at all in the app description or in game that more episodes are coming and that this is the first. It would be great if the developer added this to the app description as currently it is borderline false advertising. This is not a full game! Also the save system is awful. Sure games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill used the similar system of finding an item to save and then finding the actual computer in the game to save. However when youre on the go or multitasking you cant be worried about saving, it just doesnt fit the mobile platform. If Im out and want to stop playing because real life is happening I should be able to save and close the app. Not to mention that multitasking will kill the game and when you go back all your progress will be lost. Took a phone call? Be ready to go back to your progress being gone and the app restarting. Awful. Did no one test multitasking? Another odd choice is the flashlight system. You basically NEED the flashlight at all times, you cant even interact with objects if you dont have the flashlight on as it is "too dark to see anything". While that is actually a neat mechanic the flashlight itself is awful. It doesnt last long and when it does run out you need to find a recharge station. However, navigating the levels with no flashlight is borderline impossible and doesnt add anything but frustration. The fact there is no map in the game also doesnt help this flashlight system as you cant use a map to see where the closest recharge station is. Very silly. A consumable that is kept in your inventory would work a lot better than having to traverse half the game back and forth. Feels like padding to make the game longer and more artificially difficult. This game has a lot of potential with its future episodes but currently it is emulating a genre that does not fit the multitasking and mobile nature of the platform. Other games have used the same save system to great effect and tension, but when you are scared to get a phone call because your game will be wiped that is just poor gameplay and technical design. Combat and camera controls need an overhaul along with the character animation. It needs to be more fluid and responsive. Pros -Amazing graphics, best on iOS -Amazing exploration -Thoughtful puzzles -Good pacing and atmosphere -Story fits well with the puzzles and exploration -Good music Cons -Awful performance -Terrible combat -Awful controls and camera -Poor character animation and movement -Voice acting is bad most of the time -Awful save system that does not fit the mobile platform -Restrictive flashlight system Overview A fantastic idea and setting ruined by poor combat and controls. Score 2/5
I know the challenge is to save, but I have too busy a life to not be able to save every 15min....
